System Integration Associate

We are looking for a System Integration Associate to join our Build team within our Integration Services division in either the Watertown area or remote (office area preferred). Do you want to play a hands-on role in improving the healthcare ecosystem? At the nexus of healthcare systems, we manage the build, support, and maintenance of a variety of integrations for our clients, but what lies beneath is a focus on technical scoping, testing, documentation, and support.

You are:

  • An analytical thinker who can make sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems

  • Able to balance stakeholders by anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple perspectives

  • A nimble learner who actively learns through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning fodder

  • A technical problem-solver who is skilled at gathering data, asking questions, and establishing actionable measures of success to ensure we are solving the right problem in the most effective way

  • Able to identify and define business opportunities that are actionable and can help achieve improved value and outcomes

The Team:
Through our daily interactions with R&D staff, product, onboarding, client support teams, and vendors we both create and support the interconnective web that empowers our clients to succeed. Our team values empathy and a team-based approach along with an appetite for learning and growth as we collaborate cross-functionally with both client facing and product development teams to implement and support healthcare interoperability. We believe that success is a team effort and strive to provide opportunities for our employees to meet their goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build and deliver on several healthcare integrations requiring direct client and vendor communication

  • Collaborate with other internal stakeholders (including Customer Success Managers, Program Managers, Product and Development) to ensure successful technical implementations

  • Perform active analysis and testing to identify defects and/or critical workflow gaps for new and custom product integrations. Collaborate with internal R&D teams as well as external vendors and facilitate necessary meetings to drive product prioritization and resolution.

  • Conduct and coordinate cross-functional events and meetings to better understand how various tasks are executed and how we as an organization may be able to create more efficient and effective processes

  • Contribute to documentation, standard operating procedures, and training materials that capture our standard operating procedures

  • Serve as a cultural ambassador, connecting diverse teams operating across geographies

Typical Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • 2-3 years of project management experience, including management of technical projects with significant cross-functional interdependencies

  • Ability to learn new tools, systems, and processes quickly and independently

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to keep track of numerous detail-intensive tasks and ensure their completion and accuracy

  • Experience and/or knowledge of healthcare workflows or healthcare IT support is a plus

  • Agile and/or Scrum experience is a plus

About athenahealth

Here’s our vision: To create a thriving ecosystem that delivers accessible, high-quality, and sustainable healthcare for all.

What’s unique about our locations?
From an historic, 19th century arsenal to a converted, landmark power plant, all of athenahealth’s offices were carefully chosen to represent our innovative spirit and promote the most positive and productive work environment for our teams. Our 10 offices across the United States and India — plus numerous remote employees — all work to modernize the healthcare experience, together.

Our company culture might be our best feature.
We don't take ourselves too seriously. But our work? That’s another story. athenahealth develops and implements products and services that support US healthcare: It’s our chance to create healthier futures for ourselves, for our family and friends, for everyone.

Our vibrant and talented employees — or athenistas, as we call ourselves — spark the innovation and passion needed to accomplish our goal. We continue to expand our workforce with amazing people who bring diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives at every level, and foster an environment where every athenista feels comfortable bringing their best selves to work.

Our size makes a difference, too: We are small enough that your individual contributions will stand out — but large enough to grow your career with our resources and established business stability.

Giving back is integral to our culture. Our athenaGives platform strives to support food security, expand access to high-quality healthcare for all, and support STEM education to develop providers and technologists who will provide access to high-quality healthcare for all in the future. As part of the evolution of athenahealth’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, we’ve selected nonprofit partners that align with our purpose and let us foster long-term partnerships for charitable giving, employee volunteerism, insight sharing, collaboration, and cross-team engagement.

What can we do for you?
Along with health and financial benefits, athenistas enjoy perks specific to each location, including commuter support, employee assistance programs, tuition assistance, employee resource groups, and collaborative workspaces — some offices even welcome dogs.

In addition to our traditional benefits and perks, we sponsor events throughout the year, including book clubs, external speakers, and hackathons. And we provide athenistas with a company culture based on learning, the support of an engaged team, and an inclusive environment where all employees are valued.

We also encourage a better work-life balance for athenistas with our flexibility. While we know in-office collaboration is critical to our vision, we recognize that not all work needs to be done within an office environment, full-time. With consistent communication and digital collaboration tools, athenahealth enables employees to find a balance that feels fulfilling and productive for each individual situation.
