Position Summary:
We are looking for a Lead Member of Technical Staff who is an experienced full stack developer, to join our Marketplace team within our Platform division.

The Team:

It owns the Marketplace “app store” (marketplace.athenahealth.com) that showcases integrations built as “add-ons” to athena’s full portfolio of products including electronic medical record, medical billing, patient engagement, population health, and care coordination. These apps enable practices to streamline specific workflows and extend the capabilities offered natively within athenaOne. The Marketplace hosts over 300 applications and these apps are used by more than half of our client base. In this role, you will be responsible for shaping the app store experience for both partners and customers, driving adoption of Marketplace apps, personalize the options based on characteristics of the practice, all while delivering this public site with consumer-grade usability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate, unambiguous technical design specifications to the appropriate detail
  • Critique technical documentation as needed
  • Deliver customer value in the form of high-quality software components and services in adherence with RPR policies on Security, performance, longevity and Integration testing
  • Proactively Identifies and proposes new, alternative technology to create scalable implementations and achieve results.
  • Accurately estimate the size of development tasks in story points, challenge other during estimation
  • Provide high level T-shirt sizing for the work required to build smaller software components and services
  • Understand and follow coding conventions, architectures, and best practices; hold other members of the team accountable for doing so
  • Write, debug, and safely deploy code to production; deliver timely fixes
  • Participates in team member interview process as needed; influences final hiring decisions.
  • Scale systems to meet business demand
  • Deploy systems to meet availability targets (HA/DR)
  • Adhere to DOD (story definition of done) as part of the sprint, including unit tests, functional testing, code reviews, no regressions, bug fixes, documentation and adhere to best coding practices
  • Perform peer code reviews to ensure quality standards.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate ownership for what you and the team build and deploy in production.
  • Work collaboratively across the Technology and Product organizations to ensure alignment towards business goals
  • Coordinate efforts across the team to ensure completion and effectiveness

Typical Qualifications

  • 8+ years of commercial software development experience with significant product development expertise dealing with large scale.
  • Significant experience in front end development preferably Modern JS frameworks (JavaScript, React, Node.js)
  • Should have a robust knowledge of CSS and best practices
  • Full stack development experience is an added advantage
  • Experience with any Content Management system is desirable
  • Experience of Distributed systems and Microservices.
  • Familiarity in AWS Cloud Infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of Agile SDLC practices; familiarity with unit and integration testing, as well as design and code reviews and documentation.
  • Ability to write code that is technically sound, testable, resilient, performant, scalable, extensible and readable.
  • Experience with DevOps principles, and deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using Jenkins along with git, bitbucket and other source code repositories.
  • Familiarity with application build, deployment, monitoring tools & frameworks like CI/CD in Jenkins, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog etc.
  • Strong communication skills to work across geographies, and a record of engineering achievement, code ownership, and customer orientation.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills that encourage growth for more junior members.
  • Track record of designing and delivering cloud-based products, modules, and services.
  • Proven track record of implementing and adopting new technologies and methodologies.
