Athena is looking for unique procurement experts to join our growing Global Strategic Procurement Team. We move fast with a laser focus on customer and stakeholder success. The Procurement Analyst will be responsible for analyzing metadata, reading contract language, and assisting the sourcing team in documenting contracts. They should have a thorough understanding of the contract process and the ability to extract critical data from contracts. The Procurement Analyst will drive contracting activities to ensure the successful selection and implementation of vendor services and solutions by ensuring timely execution of contracts that align with the organization's risk profile through thoughtful project management.

The ideal candidate will possess:

3-4 years of experience in contract review, project management, or a related field, or a degree in a relevant area of study. Knowledge across various sourcing categories and/or the ability to quickly learn and retain information about the sourcing and contracting process and categories. A vision for optimization, strong project management and analytical skills, and excellent interpersonal skills to act as a change agent.

Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities):

Contracting (80%)

  • Understand and conduct all business in accordance with the appropriate athenahealth, Inc. policies including all Procurement Policies & Procedures
  • Review, and analyze contracts (non-disclosure, licensing, distribution, reseller, and purchasing agreements).
  • Perform project management of contracting process through analysis and contract execution.
  • Coordinate business, procurement and legal objectives for the business requirement, costs, quality, risk, etc.
  • Prepare and maintain project plans, appropriate milestone, and related schedules.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships with business partners.
  • Maintain and monitor post-award business processes through buying process. Interface with stakeholders to understand, document, track, and fulfill business needs.
  • Collaborate in the development, documentation, implementation, and maintenance of contract management policy, process, and standards to optimize processing and time to contract completion.
  • Work with Key Stakeholders to determine appropriate metrics; create reporting and metric guidelines to manage risk.
  • Assist with contract review efforts and load contracts into contract management system.
  • Build and maintain relationships with the Procurement team, Legal, and internal stakeholders to collect requirements, develop contract templates, and implement standards.

General Procurement Support (20%)

  • Partner with the team to develop and qualify bidder lists, develop evaluation criteria, issue formal bid documents, coordinate, analyze, recommend, award for commodity buys and one off, one-time low risk spend.
  • Other tasks as assigned.

Education & Experience Required:

  • Undergraduate degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Finance and/or Business preferred but not required.
  • 3-4 years of contracting, business development and/or project management experience or other relevant experience is required.
  • Familiarity with technology transactions, software licenses, strategic sourcing and/or general procurement.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to understand the business, financial and legal aspects of contracts and other business arrangements.
  • Strong analytics skills: Keen attention to detail along with ability to discover potential risks.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, negotiation, and project management skills.
  • Team player, excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task and prioritize, and work in a multi-cultural setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and demanding setting.
  • Self-motivated; focused individual with excellent interpersonal skills.
