Ring is looking for a Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join a team of hands-on, passionate professionals developing innovative products. The person in this position will be responsible for qualifying products and features developed by cross functional teams; developing test plans and test cases mapping to product requirements; documenting end user scenarios; detecting and reporting UI, API, and system wide issues; participating in triaging defects; automating test cases to assist with production release regression testing; and preparing test reports and release readiness reports for components, APIs, and product feature integrations.

Key job responsibilities
- Develop test plans and test cases mapping to product requirements and technical implementations to provide effective end to end coverage
- Prepare and distribute test reports and release readiness reports for stake holder review
- Collaborate across teams to align on release timelines, test readiness and define release test plan to support requirements
- Coordinate with cross functional sprint teams, automation and release teams to qualify and prepare to release Ring products and corresponding companion applications (mobile and web apps)
- Actively contributes to QA support functions - UI and API Automation, triage issues, troubleshoot issues, conduct API tracing, and support production release testing
- Groom/maintain test suite to reduce unnecessary test cases where appropriate to drive efficiencies and best practices
- Evolve team methodologies for implementing, testing and deploying solutions
- Review metrics related to product quality to assess test effectiveness and opportunities to evolve team methodologies and mature/improve product quality
- Participate in design discussions, planning, retrospective reviews and triage/prioritization of defects (including identification of root cause)

Your day to day activities will be dynamic and fast paced. You will work with a team of talented quality assurance engineers who are responsible for delivering high quality products for Ring Alarm. As a leader, you will collaborate with your peers and across teams to align on strategies, solutions and timelines. You will work with the team to dive deep into quality issues and provide.

- 4+ years of quality assurance engineering experience
- Experience in automation testing
- Experience in manual testing
- Experience as QA lead on medium to large sized projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar technical field
- Experience with driving quality across an organization as a holistic plan and not just test execution
- Knowledge of QA methodologies and software testing techniques and tools (STLC)
- Experience in automating UI, API, and Mobile Testing (i.e. Selenium/SOAPUI)
- Knowledge in one or more scripting languages (e.g., shell, bash, Perl, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, etc.) and experience in use for automation of UI and API testing
- Practical experience in creation, optimization and execution of test plans for complex scenarios that involve technical implementation across multiple engineering teams
- Practical experience participating in test plan reviews, code reviews, design discussions, team planning, metrics reviews, along with preparation/presentation of stake holder reports


- Experience with at least one automated test framework like Selenium or Appium
- Experience in gathering test requirements to create detailed test plans and defining quality metrics to measure product quality
- Practical experience working closely with development and business teams to understand requirements, technical design, implementation, root cause analysis, and risk mitigation requirements and impacts associated with feature development
- Strong organizational skills, ability to track multiple test executions simultaneously and to be able to synthesize results
- Experience using test cases management tools (like TCM or TestRail), issues management tools (like jira etc) and development environments (like Visual Studio, IntelliJ or Eclipse)
- Knowledge of wireless connectivity technologies, such as WIFI, Bluetooth, especially ZWave, Zigbee
- Shows creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness
- Knowledge of IOT device development or testing, specifically Home Security Systems
- Comfortable communicating cross-functionally and across management levels in formal and informal settings
- Ability to mentor junior QAEs and team members on products, testing strategies, and systems utilized to provide traceability from feature to underlying test results
