Job Description:

The InterSystems HealthShare team is seeking an experienced developer for a Principal Engineer position.

The mission of the HealthShare product suite is to ensure the safety, efficiency, and quality of care for every hospital, payer, and health exchange we work with, solving complex technical challenges and maintaining a high level of excellence.

As a Principal Engineer, you will perform as a collaborative, mentoring technical lead on a Scrum Team which is responsible for delivering new and updated product features several times per year. Strong software design and development skills are required, such as database schema design, performance monitoring, working in client-side frameworks, designing large scale, federated architectures, and clean object-oriented coding. Principal developers take ownership of product features of any complexity and scope from beginning to end. They evaluate different approaches in terms of level of effort, risk, and quality, effectively guide implementations through technical obstacles, and ensure that the team's deliverables are of high quality and well aligned with the overall HealthShare architecture.

Responsibilities:

  • Write production-ready code to be deployed to our customers around the world
  • Be diligent in writing unit tests and documentation
  • Adhere to and contribute to the application design standards, coding standards and application framework
  • Provide constructive feedback to other developers via code reviews
  • Work closely with technical and non-technical members of your scrum team to deliver within an Agile framework
  • Design solutions factoring in non-functional requirements, business strategy, and product goals, and communicate these solutions for review by internal and external stakeholders
  • Regularly recommend and proactively lead decision making on best practice software development tools and frameworks, and guide their effective use and appropriate adoption

Qualifications

  • Experience as a tech-lead / architect building and delivering a commercial software product
  • 5+ years experience in object-oriented programming, databases, and full-stack development
  • Experience with distributed system development is a plus
  • Experience with Scrum or other Agile methodologies is a plus
  • Familiarity with Javascript, Angular, React, SQL, Python or Java are a plus
