The Opportunity

As the Director in Cash & Securities Administration you will be responsible for the successful execution of daily management and oversight over the asset lifecycle of MassMutual’s General Investment Account (GIA). This includes many investment managers and asset classes. Additionally, you will play a key role in the implementation of our Target Operating Model, along with significant projects as well as stabilization of our current environment. You will assist in leading, formulating and defining business and/or systems scope, requirements, and objectives as it relates to Investment Operations Cash & Securities Administration. You will also apply leadership, finance, investment knowledge and other technical skills to provide oversight related to the current and future state needs of MassMutual. As a Director in our organization, you will lead a team of associates.

The Team

As a Director, you will report to the Head of Cash & Securities Administration. This role is part of MassMutual Investment Operations Team within the Investment Management Division. The team is responsible for the asset life cycle of Fixed Income and Equity Investments residing on the Eagle STAR Investment Accounting system, part of MassMutual’s General Investment Account (GIA). The team is diverse and agile. They work independently, yet collaboratively. All members are held accountable and are encouraged to grow in the role via peer-to-peer training, education, and industry participation. The Impact:

  • Manage multiple and complex functions of Cash & Securities Administration operations including various asset classes along with each asset’s lifecycles.

  • Develop, assist, and lead in implementing business process.

  • Assists in managing divisional/cross-divisional complex projects.

  • Responsible for managing aspects of complex transactions and new mandates as it relates to Investment Operations Eagle STAR assets.

  • Facilitates remediation and root cause problem solving of reconciliation issues.

  • Directs team members and collaborate with internal and external business partners to research and accommodate new products traded by the investment manager.

  • Drives continuous improvement and efficiencies beyond own scope of responsibility.

  • Manage employee development, training, and planning.

  • Anticipates change, looks for trends and directs or redirects efforts.

  • Directs staff in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and programs.

  • Advances the interest of the company by serving on teams that are external to the organization when appropriate.

  • Maintains MassMutual internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by internal/external auditors as applicable.

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, and/or Business

  • 8+ Years of general investment-middle/back-office operations experience including treasury operations experience

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Understanding of the Investment Management process and the related data flows

  • Ability to work with investment data providers and consumers to understand issues and recommend and execute solutions

  • Understanding of a wide range of asset classes and how investment information for such asset classes is used

  • Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work in a team-based environment

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to address and resolve conflicts diplomatically
