The Opportunity

As a Data Analytics Audit Consultant on the Corporate Audit Data Analytics Team, you will have an opportunity to join a team of collaborative professionals focused on driving data analysis and business intelligence efforts that support internal audit projects throughout the company, create and maintain management dashboards and reports, and develop departmental training and continuous improvement initiatives. In this role, you will be engaged in the full data analysis lifecycle for a variety of high visibility projects and have encouragement for developing professional skills including risk-based data analysis, client relationship-building, and project management.

The Team

The MassMutual Corporate Audit Team is located in both Boston and Springfield. Corporate Audit assists the Audit Committee of the MassMutual Board of Directors and management in monitoring, analyzing, and strengthening internal controls. Our work supports MassMutual’s strategy on growing the business, enhancing profitability, and focusing on the customer, with emphasis on enhancing effectiveness and efficiency. Within the Corporate Audit Data Analytics Team, you will use your skills to partner and collaborate with peers and clients to improve the team’s utilization of data analysis and help drive positive change across the organization.

The Impact

  • Completes end-to-end data acquisition and analysis on individual audit projects with minimal coaching including receiving an initial data request, researching and identifying the correct data source(s), performing technical queries to acquire and validate data, conducting full population attribute testing and identification of historical trends and outliers, collaborating with audit and business stakeholders to validate and fine-tune analysis, developing data visualizations, and documenting and communicating results to audit clients

  • Demonstrates strong abilities with using data analysis tools and platforms to extract, analyze, and visualize data using SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, and data functionality within Excel

  • Works independently, enthusiastically engaging clients and peers to complete value-added assignments within the defined project scope and timelines

  • Assists with the development of Corporate Audit department data visualizations and reporting to key stakeholders, including the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors

  • Assists with the development and training of Corporate Audit Team to enhance data analytics knowledge and continuous improvement techniques to contribute to the improvement of internal audit processes

The Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 3+ years of relevant data analysis experience and/or related business or audit experience (e.g., data analysis conducted as a part of a role in business intelligence, audit, risk, compliance, consulting, technology, and/or financial services)

  • Due to the nature of this position, as a part of our background check process, candidates must be able to pass a non-registered fingerprint background check to qualify as a fingerprinted person under FINRA

The Ideal Qualifications

  • Effective capabilities with data analytics tools and platforms such as SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, and/or Excel

  • Certifications and credentials specifically related to data analytics, especially SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, and/or advanced data functions in Excel

  • Understanding of data modeling and data visualization concepts

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • High integrity, professional skepticism and strong business sense

  • High responsiveness and flexibility to changing business priorities and tight deadlines

  • Ability to collaborate effectively, learn quickly, and teach others

  • Ability to proactively analyze problems, develop creative solutions, and execute delivery

  • Experience with training and teaching data analytics skills and concepts

  • Knowledge of financial products, services, and regulations; internal audit practices; risk management; and regulatory guidance and expectations (OCC, SEC, NAIC, State Insurance)

Salary Range:

$99,800.00-$131,000.00
