Intro and job overview:

  • The Product Owner is the member of the Agile Scrum Team responsible for requirements breakdown and prioritizing the backlog to streamline the execution of the Product roadmap, while maintaining conceptual and technical integrity of the features or components for which the team is responsible. The Product Owner must understand the market, the customers, and the strategy to make sound decisions, work with key stakeholders throughout the organization and communicate decisions or progress. The Product Owner also must have a thorough understanding of the overall product vision and strategy and convey that to the scrum team. This includes defining for the team how each sprint contributes to the bigger picture. The Product Owner must actively engage with the scrum team to ensure a successful release.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • You will work with Product Managers to understand and validate customer needs and understand Product Vision.
  • You will interact directly with customers to understand their needs as they relate to the current and future roadmap.
  • You will execute on the product roadmap by creating and maintaining the Product Backlog of features and requirements
  • You will triage incoming feature requests to determine appropriateness for the product roadmap.
  • You will prioritize the product backlog according to business value.
  • You will convey the vision and goals to the scrum team at the beginning of every release and sprint.
  • You will assist with the elaboration and decomposition of Master Features to Features to individual Requirements.
  • You will, together with the scrum team, ensure prioritized backlog items are included in the sprint deliverables during Sprint Planning.
  • You will work with the scrum team to address questions and concerns during sprints related to product functionality.
  • You will act as the gatekeeper before any feature functionality is delivered to Production, ensuring it’s accuracy through user acceptance testing.
  • You will communicate with stakeholders regarding decisions and their impact.
  • You will demonstrate delivered features to internal and external teams.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • You have 3+ years working in a scrum agile software development environment; previous product owner experience preferred
  • You have 5+ years of enterprise software product management and/or business analyst experience
  • You have outstanding communication, presentation, and leadership skills with ability to present to various audiences from individuals on scrum teams to stakeholders and customers.

Preferred Requirement:

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in the master data management, data quality, data governance, metadata management software space.
  • Experience with SaaS software delivery.
