Director, Financial Strategy & Planning

Rapid7’s strategic Finance team is responsible for partnering with leaders across the business to steer the most impactful business and investment decisions in support of our focus to deliver sustained profitable growth. About the Role

Partner with functional business leaders to actively set and manage achievement to key business targets, by informing strategic and operational business planning and decision making through insight-driven financial analysis

In this role, you will:

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of key business drivers across business functions

  • Establish and maintain a SaaS KPI target operating model and reporting framework that provides strategic insight into business investments and ROI to optimize operational decisions

  • Build and maintain growth and investment planning models and drive ad-hoc scenario analysis to support executive and functional decision-making

  • Partner with key executive and functional stakeholders to incorporate our strategic priorities into our future financial profile

  • Provide financial analysis and decision support to identify initiatives and investments that can positively impact the company's financial outlook

  • Support annual and mid-term strategic planning including owning our rolling long-range operating plan

  • Partner with data and reporting teams to support creation and maintenance of sustainable dashboard reporting for target performance tracking and business decision making

  • Effectively communicate to cross-functional teams the company’s financial performance and business opportunities, along with rationale supporting decisions to grow profitably

  • Forge meaningful relationships with the executive and cross-functional business leaders

  • Provide strong leadership, mentoring, and development to our team; hire, train and develop team members as appropriate

The skills you’ll bring include:

  • 9+ years of progressive experience across financial planning and analytical roles including experience in FP&A, investment banking, equity research or other strategic finance roles, preferably with exposure to enterprise SaaS companies

  • Analytical mindset to draw insights from data, deep dive into operational drivers, and influence business decisions

  • Ability to operate independently and manage ambiguity in a fast-moving environment.

  • Ability to translate complex business operating models and operational indicators into key business insights to drive financial performance

  • In-depth knowledge of SaaS drivers and metrics and strong understanding of financial modeling and trend/ratio analysis

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with non-financial audiences

  • Strong leadership presence and being comfortable and credible interfacing with executive and business function leadership

  • Expertise with various financial planning applications
