You, as the Accounting Manager, will oversee the day-to-day accounting activities and work with a team of accounting professionals, provide coaching, development, and technical accounting guidance.Note: The ideal candidate will be a commutable distance to our Cambridge, MA office, for occasional meeting attendance.
What You Will Do
- Oversee the month-end close process for all entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness to include, but not limited to reviewing monthly journal entries and reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts; prepaid expenses, deposits, accrued payroll/benefits, vendor accruals and ASC842 Lease Accounting, and ASC 606 deferred revenue/revenue recognition.
- Review accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments.
- Responsible for review of US and international payrolls and related accounting.
- Work with Controller on revenue recognition and assist in preparing technical revenue memos.
- Staying up-to-date on compliance with GAAP and other accounting standards, laws, and regulations.
- Continuously review and improve accounting processes and systems to ensure efficiency and accuracy around internal control processes, systems, and procedures around all essential job functions
- Review monthly financial statements and research variances versus budget and prior year to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist with annual audit.
- Work with staff to prepare and review year-end related activities such as 1099’s and year-end payroll process.
- Work with the international finance service providers for the international entities.
- Supporting annual tax filings work by compiling requested tax support and responding to tax inquiries by third party tax preparers.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement financial policies and procedures.
- Opportunities to participate in strategic projects supporting other parts of the business and subject to greater visibility across the organization.
What We Are Looking For
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (NetSuite)
- 2-3 years experience as an Accounting Manager.
- 5-8 years overall Accounting experience.
- BA/ BS in Accounting, CPA a plus.
- Attention to detailed financial accounting and reporting and strong problem-solving and critical thinking ability.
