Are you an experienced Reservior engineer looking for a challenge in providing project and asset support in developing new cutting edge technologies and deploying them to the global assets?

The QRM (Quantitative Reservoir Management) team develops workflows that incorporate subsurface data (production data, [3D/4D] seismic, geologic, core, petrophysical, etc.) in modelling and decision making. Workflows extends from geology (static modeling) to seismic (attributes, inversion) to flow simulation (history matching, well location optimization, reservoir optimization) combined with data analytics and data driven hybrid modelling. The computational aspects include uncertainty capture with statistical methods, optimization, multi-core parallel computing, machine learning and AI.

What’s the role?

The program is delivered in collaboration with multiple leading external technology partners. As part of a 'data driven modelling and optimization' project, machine learning/ AI and 'big data' tools are becoming an important component of the team's toolset.

The QRM team is working in new technologies supporting Digital WRFM program supporting Water floods, techniques for real time optimization, forecasting and extending the current portfolio of technologies to Energy Transition business.

  • Discover, deliver and/or deploy innovative, physics based, reduced order modelling and/or data driven solutions to the subsurface domain.
  • Drive analyses that provide key technical and strategic insights, transforming conventional working practices and ways of thinking.
  • Author reports / articles to disseminate research, both internally and externally.

Your accountabilities are:

  • Support development, productization of new technologies supporting WRFM acting as product owner and champion of the technology.
  • Provide reservoir engineering support for high quality project delivery by working in a fully integrated team
  • Deliver and/or deploy innovative, physics based and/or data driven solutions to the subsurface domain.
  • Drive analyses that provide key technical and strategic insights, transforming conventional working practices and ways of thinking.
  • Develop and impart associated technology training to assets, support QRM team in testing new functionalities and liaise with team and assets in deployment.
  • Provide mentoring and technical coaching to less experienced reservoir engineers
  • Identification and implementation of best practices and opportunities to streamline processes.
  • Be a committed leader and role model for goal zero and other HSSE initiatives.

What we need from you ?

  • BS Degree or Masters degree in related technical field (Petroleum engineering, Mathematics, Earth Sciences, Computer Science) with 10+ years of relevant experience Ph.D degree is a plus.
  • Strong Skill of subsurface fundamentals e.g. Reservoir Engineering, Geology, Fluid, Flow through Porous Media, IRM workflows, to a level that you can swiftly spot potential pitfalls and avoid them, and to know how RE/PG/PT clients/customers think and what they look for.
  • Mastery in subsurface modeling, reservoir simulation (CMG/Eclipse), material balance, IPSM, and general history matching and forecasting principles.
  • Knowledge of different optimization algorithm, Machine Learning and statistical validation techniques is a plus.
  • Computer skills: Knowledge of programming languages Python, C++ Fortran is a plus.
  • Strong skills in analyzing large datasets efficiently and able to derive insights quickly and integrate with other discipline inputs to form a credible view.
