Job Description:

What’s the role?

The position of Fuels Quality Specialist focusses on supporting Shell’s Trading, Commercial and Retail businesses in Benelux and France. Scope covers fuels and fuel components, low carbon fuels, but also chemicals and refinery feedstocks.

You will be part of an internationally operating team, supporting Shell’s businesses in Europe and South Africa. The team consists of 16 FTEs and operates from 6 main locations.

Your role is to improve product quality assurance throughout the supply chain, support and resolving product quality incidents, carry out root cause investigations and share learnings from incidents.

You support Shell’s business when introducing new fuel products, ensuring product quality risks are understood, managed and mitigated.

You support our sales and marketing teams by preparing communications and responding to technical customer queries and claims.

You will also provide product technical trainings to businesses to grow their fuels technical competence.

You may be representing Shell in the industry working in industry associations on new fuel standards and specifications.

Shell’s business and market environment is very dynamic; supply chains are becoming more complex, there is growing regulatory complexity, and we are acceleration introduction of low carbon fuels to reduce carbon footprint of our products.

Accountabilities:

  • Provide product quality advice and support to Shell businesses.

  • Provide technical support with claims, complaints and incidents; this includes troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident mitigation.

  • Carry out structured product quality incident investigations and reporting and preparing and sharing learning from incidents.

  • Support the implementation of quality and technical standards, policies and processes.

  • Provide technical training on fuels product to staff in the different businesses, operations and support functions.

  • Responsible for managing fuel quality specifications and fuel quality waivers.

  • Work with and support claims and legal departments when managing product quality claims for our commercial and trading business.

  • Performs audits of storage terminals, inspection and laboratory services

  • Represent Shell in industry associations and fuel quality standardization organizations.

What we need from you

  • Good communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to deal with and analyse more complex (technical/quality) issues and come with practical and commercials solutions.

  • Self-starter, passionate and result focused.

  • Ability to operate with autonomy and manage priorities.

  • Team worker and operate effectively in virtual teams.

Preferred

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree with qualifications in a technical discipline e.g. chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent experience

  • Knowledge of quality assurance, laboratory and analytical techniques, testing methods, sampling procedures

  • Experience and understanding of product supply chains, production, storage, handling and transportation of products.

  • Experience in product quality from research and development, product management, technical/commercial sales, supply operations or terminal operations

  • Fluency in Dutch and English language
