Where you fit in

As a Solution Architect you will be responsible for delivering end-to-end solution designs to projects and products. These solutions need to be fit for purpose within the portfolio, have technical integrity, the right TCO (total cost of ownership) through its life cycle and a good fit with the IT technology direction of Shell. The resultant High-Level Design will have a measurable impact on the effectiveness and profitability of Shell.

What’s the role?

  • Individual contributor/developing architect. Main scope of work is to provide solution architecture development, consultancy and assurance to projects, making sure applications are well designed and conform to Shell standards and reference/segment architectures.

  • Works as an autonomous IT Architect, translates the guidelines and standards into practice and solves common technical challenges. Works within given frameworks, company standards and policies under defined directions while receiving occasional guidance on techniques. Often team member or working on smaller architect tasks with some oversight.

  • Makes use of the standard architecture tools (BizzDesign, Enterprise Arhcitect, IBM System Architect, PowerDesigner, and/or ProVision).

  • Stakeholders are Project Managers and Business Teams JG2/3.

  • Understands the IT Strategic Roadmap and applies within the context of their organisational assignment. Uses the related reference architectures and roadmaps for Cloud, Mobile, Integration, OpenSource, Big Data, etc.

What we need from you

  • 10+ years of experience in total and Relevant – 5+ Years (business-focused) IT Architecture experience. Have a proven track record of digital and IT architecture impact and success.

  • Deep technology experience, preferably possessing prior Software Engineer experience with a good balance of problem solving, solutioning mindset with logical thinking and delivery focus

  • Preferred to have extensive knowledge on Cloud, Integration, Open Source, Big Data

  • Ability to work in virtual teams, across time, geographical, and cultural boundaries

  • Previous working Solution Architecture experience is highly preferred.

  • Experience in a multi-disciplined IT environment with strong background in Application and Integration architecture

  • Delivery-oriented with a focus on results. Agile and Product focused delivery is a must-have

  • Knowledge of and experience with Shell’s foundational Hyperscaler, data platforms, integration services and other critical enterprise service offerings

  • Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture methodologies such as TOGAF or the equivalent and architecture tooling like Bizz Design, ArchiMate or System architect.
