Job Description:

Where you fit in

The Production Systems team are the focal points for QGC’s Upstream and Midstream FPP (Forecast & Plan Production) and PHEA (Perform Hydrocarbon and Energy Accounting) AMS (Asset Management Systems) processes. The team prepares quarterly LE (latest estimates) production forecasts, annual business plan updates, Midstream nominations, and support ship scheduling. The Production Systems team also reconciles the flow of hydrocarbons from well head to sales points and ship. The team prepares numerous reports to review performance for internal, global, JV and external stakeholders.

What’s the role?

The Hydrocarbon Allocation Engineer will support PHEA deliverables for QGC’s Midstream (LNG) Asset. PHEA provides a framework to accurately measure and account for feedstock, products, production losses, energy and greenhouse gas to enable delivery of business outcomes. PHEA services numerous internal departments, third parties and statutory authorities. The role is technically focused with considerable commercial interfaces.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring compliance with the PHEA AMS framework and regulatory requirements.

  • Supporting PHEA AMS embedment, ongoing review, and improvement.

  • Contributing to the development & maintenance of hydrocarbon accounting and allocation tools, procedures, and manuals.

  • Undertaking timely and accurate reconciliation of mid-stream energy balance and emissions.

  • Work with the metering team to identify and track any mismeasurements.

  • Preparing and presenting weekly, monthly & quarterly production & allocation reports.

  • Support to the production deferment management process through maintaining the loss tools and database.

  • Supporting broader production management systems such as production planning, reporting, scheduling, and forecasting etc.

  • Reviewing PHEA & FPP processes and tools to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • Collaborating with Shell Global Process Leads, IT & Digital teams to drive improvement initiatives and ensure local process are aligned to global strategic direction.

  • Responding to ad-hoc requests & queries for production data.

Although primary focus will be in supporting Midstream PHEA, the Hydrocarbon Allocation Engineer may also be required to support deliverables across the wider team dependent on business priorities.

What we need from you

We hope to see as many of the following in your CV:

  • Engineering degree preferred or another technical related discipline.

  • Oil and gas industry experience.

  • Understanding of hydrocarbon accounting & allocation methods.

  • Understanding of the coal seam gas to LNG industry & processes, particularly LNG.

  • Experience working with OSISoft PI, Quorum Energy Components (EC), or equivalent applications would be highly regarded.

  • Demonstrated coding skills (VBA) would be highly regarded.

  • Experience managing large data sets. Comfortable preparing and presenting performance data.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills; highly numerate.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Results-orientated with a commitment to quality and continuous improvement.

  • Should be highly self-motivated and able to work independently from daily supervision.

  • Ability to prioritize and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Ability to foster team relationships. Ability to interact and influence effectively with every level of the organization.
