Sensata Technologies is looking for a Senior Director Sales, for our Automotive business in China to lead growth in our 800M+ regional business, where we have a bold growth plan over the next 3-5 years. Experience with China OEMs with focus in both electrification and core powertrain product lines within China.

The Sales leader is responsible for providing leadership, strategy and direction to their respective team. This position will partner with key leaders to formulate and implement long-term strategies as well as create tactical plans to achieve desired sales targets.

The primary responsibility of this role will be to lead a team of sales professionals, account managers, and support staff to develop and win new business opportunities for mission-critical sensors that help our customers meet the growing needs for safety, energy efficiency and clean environment.

This is primarily achieved through understanding customer applications and establishing strong industry relationships with customers at all levels. Additionally, the candidate will need to develop strategies for closing new business, growing the Sensata portfolio across customers and markets, and for defending share for the region. This position must be able to understand customer’s business strategy/needs and translate those into opportunities for Sensata to participate.
Success in this position requires good market trends understanding, good team-building and influencing skills; both in working with internal teams, external teams and customers. In addition, they must have exceptional commercial acumen paired with solid operational and technical backgrounds. This position reports to the Vice President of the China Vehicle business unit.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the revenue generation
  • Directs sales and local sales administration resources
  • Oversees the training, development, and on-going motivation of local sales team
  • Directs the annual plan, quarterly updates, and long range planning processes
  • Oversees organization reports and biweekly highlights
  • Creates and implements sales structure
  • Responsible for sales organization with regard to account strategies, tactics, and management contacts

Required Experience:

  • Overall 10 years of experience in sales, account management or business development role.
  • Experience in Automotive markets required
  • At least 5 years of proven leadership and team management experience
  • Successful experience developing deep client partnerships, as well as collaborating closely and effectively with engineering, production, customer service, quality, manufacturing and others to develop new business opportunities
  • Extensive business travel required
  • A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

  • Capable of strategically planning future product opportunities and demonstrate strong entrepreneurial skills in translating those plans into commercially successful and profitable product offerings.
  • Demonstrated skills as a communicator, both orally and in writing.
  • Structured thinking with analytical skills and ability to prepare business plans
  • Self-starter capable of leading and/or participating effectively on globally-matrixed teams
  • Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify, solve and succinctly communicate complex problems.
  • High degree of comfort with ambiguity; ability to effectively navigate uncertainty.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required, including ability to effectively negotiate and build relationships internally and externally.
  • Ability and desire to work on multiple, time-sensitive projects in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail
  • Willingness to travel as required
