The Cost Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the analysis of costs of materials, processes, and labor, as well as ensuring alignment to the company's cost accounting procedures and policies. They will prepare product cost statements and research products to establish manufacturing costs.
General Responsibilities
• Supervise and assist with daily operations of the cost accounting function
• Lead month-end closing, prepares and reviews journal entries as necessary, and analyze inventory valuation
• Maintain internal control documentation and test internal controls
• Prepare detailed account analysis and reconcile sales, cost and inventory, liability accounts by customer type by division
• Review and analyze inventory and margin reports, conduct research and perform analytical studies in regards to cost analyses and profitability
• Works in special projects as required
• Support and assist internal department reporting requirements such as audit schedules, tax schedules and others
• Ensure timely submission, accuracy and validity of inventory, gross margin schedules to management
• Provides day to day supervision to team to ensure the efficient operation of the function
• Supervises physical inventory controls in collaboration with the operations team
• Arranges goals and prepare performance assessments annually, in a timely manner
• Review team activities, including but not limited to, journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and physical inventory control compliance
Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
