The Training & Development Specialist is responsible for the research, proposal, design, implementation and conducting of any respective training and development program. They should attend any necessary training on hosting the programs, as well as collaborate with any necessary internal or external personnel.

General Responsibilities
• Key participant in conducting training sessions
• Key participant in the testing of trainees to evaluate and measure their learning process
• Collaborate on the design and development of training and educational programs
• Key participant in coaching sessions for less experienced peers, and to further individual ability and skill with hosting training and development programs

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers

The Instructional Designer & Learning Technology Specialist will create online learning modules and live web-based training sessions, instructor-led training guides, and supporting materials following an instructional design process. This role will also be responsible for project management and monitoring the learning technology environment for tools, best practices, and resources that will enhance the delivery of learning through our learning management system (LMS), Workday Learning.

  • Define objectives for a course and/or curriculum, with a heavy emphasis on self-paced eLearning modules
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them
  • Conduct instructional research and analysis on learners and contexts
  • Work with customers via email, phone, online, and in person to collect information needed to complete modules
  • Quickly synthesize and write course content based on input from subject matter experts, written material, previous training courses, interviews, etc.
  • Proof course at multiple stages of development and make or document required changes; work with subject matter experts and course sponsors to collect feedback and integrate it into the next course draft
  • Use PowerPoint to draft screen layouts, graphics and interactions appropriate to the content
  • Work with various technology resources to generate voiceovers, video production, and graphics to produce draft and final versions of each course
  • Design quizzes, exercises, activities, and meaningful course interactions to increase learning experience and retention of information
  • Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc)
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance and develop assessment instruments
  • Keep up to date on learning tools, trends, and ideas and make recommendations on improvements to broader team
  • Define project schedules and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Keep track of project tasks and status using online project management software
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders, including updating existing content as new information and / or needs present
  • Report on global project activity on a monthly basis
  • As needed, source and partner with vendors to address learning and development needs outside of internal expertise
