The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and optimizing equipment and systems to ensure operational efficiency and safety. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying and resolving potential issues, minimizing downtime, and maintaining compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.

General Responsibilities
• Key participant in electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process
• Key participant in dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings
• Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts
• Organizes rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers

Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience.
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Key Responsibilities:

Preventive Maintenance:

  • Schedule and perform regular maintenance on equipment, machinery for the line and technicians team he is responsible for

  • Develop and implement maintenance routines to extend equipment lifespan and reduce unplanned downtime.

  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.

Troubleshooting and Repairs:

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software faults on machinery and systems.

  • Quickly resolve breakdowns to minimize downtime and ensure production continuity.

  • Replace faulty components and test functionality after repairs.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure safe working practices.

  • Ensure all equipment complies with regulatory standards.

  • Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.

Optimization and Continuous Improvement:

  • Analyze equipment performance and propose improvements to increase efficiency and reduce energy consumption.

  • Work with other departments to develop processes that optimize equipment usage and minimize maintenance costs.

Inventory and Documentation:

  • Manage spare parts inventory and coordinate with suppliers for replacement parts.

  • Maintain technical documentation, including equipment manuals, maintenance logs, and inspection records.

  • Track maintenance costs and assist in budgeting for maintenance activities.

Collaboration and Training:

  • Collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and operators to ensure smooth operations.

  • Provide training to operators on proper equipment usage and basic maintenance.

  • Participate in cross-functional teams for process improvement and new installations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering (or relevant technical field).

  • Proven experience in maintenance engineering or a related field.

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

  • Familiarity with maintenance software (e.g., CMMS).

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, and robotics.

  • Certifications in maintenance or safety, such as CMRP or OSHA.

  • Ability to read technical schematics and blueprints.
