The Indirect Tax Manager oversees the various indirect tax processes for the Group, primarily in Europe. You will be providing advice on the various transactions in the Group, answering indirect tax related questions from the business and finance organization, and you will ensure proper indirect tax compliance.
General Responsibilities
• Manage a full range of tax services in compliance with laws and regulations within timeframe
• Build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting and expertise
• Identify and mitigate tax risks
• Manage tax-related activities in accordance with the tax strategy to ensure the organization meets its tax obligations and objectives
• Manage activities, policies, practices, and transactions to ensure they comply with all relevant laws and regulations
• Ensure all tax returns, tax declarations, and other required reports are submitted accurately and on time
• Select and manage ongoing relationships with external consultants and advisors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
• Develops various activities that may include tax planning, research, compliance, reporting and filings, auditing, and communicating with external tax agencies
• Manage a team to ensure the organization's tax strategy is implemented accurately and consistently and in compliance with all relevant regulations, laws, and standards
• Develops goals and prepare performance assessments annually, in a timely manner
• Manages team activities, such as, journal entries, balance sheet account reconciliations, and overall control compliance
Experience / Qualifications
• A university degree required (i.e. Bachelors degree) or equivalent relevant work experience
• Must be a team player able to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated ability to handle multiple competing tasks and demands
• Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation
• Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results
• Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity
• Holds self-accountable to achieving goals and standards
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
• Strong interpersonal & collaboration skills to work effectively with all levels of the organization including suppliers and/or external customers
  • 5+ years of experience as a VAT specialist, in-house or in a tax advisory firm;

  • Initiate, propose and implement changes in VAT related processes and procedures in view of efficiency and internal control improvements;

  • Analyze and review date used to prepare filings and identify risks, opportunities and optimizations;

  • Provide advice on technical VAT issues and risk management;

  • Answer and advise on ad hoc VAT questions from business teams;

  • Support VAT audits by local tax authorities.
