Job Description:

Where you fit in

The Trading & Supply (T&S) Monitoring & Surveillance (M&S) team has global responsibility for the monitoring & surveillance of the trading practices and business communications in T&S. The Quality Assurance (QA) & System Calibration Specialist reports into the Centre of Excellence (CoE) Manager.

What’s the role?

You will be accountable for the following:

  • Manage the quality assurance process for monitoring & surveillance activities
  • Developing monthly KPI reports, creating insightful metrics and dashboards for internal and external audiences
  • Drive internal assurance reviews across Monitoring and Surveillance processes
  • Coordinate the identification and implementation of calibration changes to Surveillance tools.
  • Work across key projects that positively impact the effectiveness of the surveillance approach.
  • Act as secretary to the Governance review committee meetings
  • Act as deputy to CoE Manager as required

You will also be expected to:

  • Develop a fit for purpose quality assurance programme covering all Monitoring and Surveillance processes.
  • Carry out the quality assurance programme by coordinating actions across the global M&S team.
  • Provide leadership reporting of the results of business as usual activities in the form of MI and KPIs that also incorporate QA results.
  • Coordinate the identification of calibrations required for Surveillance tools.
  • Implement the calibration tests and report the findings to the leadership team for go-live sign-off
  • Act as secretary to the M&S governance committee by coordinating pre-reads and circulating minutes post meeting.
  • Act as deputy to Centre of Excellence Manager as required.
  • Periodically assess and manage the monitored population.
  • Work collaboratively with the Specialists in the regions to deliver as one team.
  • Liaising with business stakeholders as required.

What we need from you

We are keen to hear from Monitoring & Surveillance professionals with proficiency in surveillance systems/tools and relevant technology. Besides this, we hope to see the following skills and experience:

  • Monitoring and Trade Surveillance: Proficient understanding of market integrity risks and how they would manifest themselves across Oil and Energy markets based on strong knowledge of previous cases and the firm’s activities.
  • Regulatory Landscape Insight: Proficient understanding of market integrity, compliance and financial crime regulations and expectations and the ability to apply these to assess whether the firm’s activities are in line with regulations/expectations.
  • Market and Product Knowledge: Proficient understanding of oil and energy products and how they trade, including physical markets logistics (covering multiple product areas), and therefore the ability to identify unusual behaviours across complex activities.
  • Data Manipulation and Analysis: Desirable: Proficient data manipulation and analytical skills allowing for large data sets to be assessed in order to identify trending and outliers to support investigations into trading activities.
  • Core Soft Skills: Proficient communication and collaboration skills, demonstrating the ability to set the right tone and relay information succinctly and/or persuasively in order to get tasks completed in a timely manner. Advanced business analysis and report writing skills in order to process information, make critical judgements and present findings in a clear and concise manner.
  • Management: Ability to manage small teams, providing training, support, and mentorship to a small number of individuals.
