Job Description:

Are you an experienced Reservoir Engineer looking for a challenge to contribute to the business and technology by providing support to the global assets? This Reservoir Engineer role within Digital & Resource One Workflow team entails strong interface with the Assets, Global Reservoir Engineering discipline and Technology Managers to ensure better business outcome and successful delivery.

Where you fit in

The Digital & Resource One Workflow team is part of the Workflow Global team under the Subsurface Data and Digital VP-ship in the Upstream business. This team provides subsurface consultancy, in the form of workflow advice, technology deployments, and geoscience/petroleum engineering problem solving to the Upstream business.

You will be closely working with SAA (Subsurface Advanced Analytics) and QRM (Quantitative Reservoir Management) team to get associated with the digital tools which incorporate subsurface data in modelling, optimization and better decision making. You will also be regularly interacting with other petroleum engineering capability teams to deploy the transformational workflow and key tools to the business.

What’s the role?

The Reservoir Engineer key accountability is to provide support for high quality project delivery by working in fully integrated team.

More specific selected candidate accountabilities are:

  • Provide reservoir engineering support to Field development & WRFM activities including consolidation & analysis of production & pressure data, dynamic modeling, history matching, production forecasting and optimization
  • Deploy innovative, physics based and/or data driven solutions to the subsurface domain
  • Work closely with the business reserves, value management and hydrocarbon maturation teams to create and embed new functionality, efficiency, and richness in Shell’s Hydrocarbon, planning and reserves workflows
  • Provide training (virtual, videos, on site) to assets on new technology, tools, and workflow, support SAA and QRM teams in testing new functionalities and liaise with assets in deployment
  • Contribute to the key technical and strategic insights for the business, transforming conventional working practices and ways of thinking
  • Key contributor of virtual global team of RE Workflow consultants. Identification and implementation of best practices and opportunities to streamline & simplify the processes
  • Be committed role model for goal zero and other HSSE initiatives

What we need from you

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering or related technical field with extensive industry experience complimented by robust relevant technical skill set
  • Hands-on experience and skills in reservoir engineering, subsurface integration, and stakeholder management
  • Proficiency in subsurface modeling, reservoir simulation, material balance, and general forecasting principles
  • Strong skills in Integrated Reservoir Modelling (IRM) and very good working knowledge of Decision Based IRM practices & standards
  • Understanding in Upstream business processes
  • Demonstrated proficiency in digital tooling and/or digital tools development for reservoir and / or petroleum engineering
  • Strong skills in analyzing large datasets efficiently, able to derive insights quickly and integrate with other discipline inputs to form a credible view
  • Effective analytical mindset, ability to deal with sometimes conflicting data on different scales, uncertainties in data and model parameters
  • Well-developed interpersonal and presentation skills, good team player; Enjoy working in multidisciplinary and multicultural project teams
  • Project management at knowledge level with commercial mindset
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely verbally and in writing, to various audience
  • Demonstrate essential focus on HSSE and D&I
  • Flexibility to cope with peers and stakeholders around the globe
  • Demonstrated self-starter/self-motivation is an essential requirement to provide effective support/advice
