Job Description:

  • Would provide SME support in areas of Advanced Process Controls.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and provide solutions.
  • Provide SME support in technologies like (e.g. Datalink configuration in PACE and standardized WatchDog), our standardized work processes (Base Layer, APC Work Process in SPOA) and utility tools that helps reduce engineering efforts (MDPro configuration Spreadsheets for Base Layer and APC, Base Layer Tuning Spreadsheets, Alarm Suppression Templates).
  • Support the process control improvements processing units within the asset.
  • Provide support in developing PACO related projects
  • Provide technical guidance and review for MOCs and Capital projects.
  • Lead technical discussions with regards to Process Control and associated tools, services, and materials as a subject matter expert with global experts, site maintenance leads/technical authorities & OEMs/Vendors etc.
  • The role covers relationship management with several Operating units of Shell.
  • This role exposes the individual to stakeholders from different cultural backgrounds located across different time zones.
  • The work comes in peaks and the person needs to be very good in prioritization and managing stakeholder expectations, resilient under pressure.
  • Sound understanding of business/process workflow and having mature mindset to deal and behave under tough/challenging situations.


Skills/Experience:

  • More than 4+ years of combined advanced analytics, process automation, and/or process engineering experience.
  • BS (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation or equivalent with demonstrated knowledge of practical process optimization and process control work experience.
  • Required process control or process engineering experience in Upstream or Refining and Chemical units.
  • Experience implementing control algorithm and configuration changes on DCS platforms such as Honeywell TDC3000, Emerson DeltaV, and/or Yokogawa CS3000.
  • Experience of Implementing Process Automation and commissioning of APC/RTO
  • Experience of Process Simulation/Modelling
  • Process Safety and Equipment safeguarding
  • Knowledge of the project development work processes including the stage-gated opportunity realization process.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-discipline team environment consisting of Engineering, Projects, Maintenance, and Operations to manage the development of projects to mitigate long-term threats and realize long-term opportunities.
  • Organized, thorough, and professional.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and clients.
  • Ability to articulate and defend a case for change or improvement. Negotiation skills to sell project solution ideas to stakeholders.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Demonstrated evidence of Shell Leadership Attributes and Enterprise first values and behaviors.
