Job Description:

An ideal role for PACO Engineer with Process Control experience, who wants to maintain and improve existing Control Schemes in a diverse team with positive attitude.

If you are an engineer who's gained some Process Control related experience, we can offer you the chance to deepen your skills and apply state of the art Process Control schemes in a refinery transition to energy and chemicals park.

Bring us a combination of Process Engineering expertise and Process Control knowledge and you'll be seen as our Process Control specialist, helping us to run production more safe, economic, and reliable.

You will play a key role in several End2End Optimization initiatives that our Site Leadership Team will roll out over the coming years.

Where you fit in

You will join Shell Energy and Chemicals Park Rheinland - largest manufacturing site in DACH region. Our manufacturing assets span 2 locations, Godorf and Wesseling, with 7 Production Units linked by a 5km long pipeline corridor. It is a site on a journey from traditional refinery and petrochemical complex to competitive energy and chemicals park.

What's the role?

On a day-to-day basis, your role will be maintaining and enhance existing Process Control Applications. On a wider level you can look forward to a role that develops new applications and apply new technologies.


We'll entrust you with responsibility operational, technological & project support as well as for achieving a world class Process Control performance.


~5000 Base Layer Loops and ~50 APC applications in the Rheinland site. You will find yourself in a very visible role that's at the focal point of our operations.

As Process Control Technology Department, we'll be looking to you to share your expertise and experience on all areas of Process Engineering and Process Automation. Working both independently, yet as part of an enthusiastic team, you'll thrive on collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders.

What we need from you

When it comes to Operational issues, it's your excellent problem-solving skills that will make the difference. You will develop innovative solutions and communicate to stakeholders with enthusiasm.

We are keen to hear from people who have a bachelor's or master’s degree, preferable in Electrical Engineering and/or Process Engineering, along with relevant Process Control experience. Beyond that, we'd hope to see as many of the following as possible on your CV:

  • Proven hands-on experience in Process Control or related disciplines

  • Knowledge of oil/chemical manufacturing processes

  • Experience with (custom) control strategy implementation in Honeywell TDC3000

  • Experience with (custom) control strategy implementation in Honeywell Experion

  • Experience with (custom) control strategy implementation in Siemens PCS-7

  • Experience with APC implementation (PACE, DMC, Profit Suite)

  • Proven track of records of nurturing strong stakeholder relationships at every level

  • At least language level B2 in German
