  • Lead technical discussions with regards to Reliability Availability & Maintainability Modeling as a subject matter expert with global experts, site maintenance leads/technical authorities & OEMs/Vendors and create models from P&ID, PFD and Drawings provided by Asset Owners.
  • Design and Define methodologies to gather/request necessary data from Asset Owners to create effective and correct RAM Models
  • Understand the need of Asset owners/Asset Reliability Engineers for various Sensitivity studies and Scenarios to be stimulated in Basic RAM Model
  • Present and Interpret results of RAM Modeling, major concerns and Blaming factors for low Reliability/Availability
  • Calculate various Reliability Parameters from raw Maintenance activity Data and use it in RAM Model
  • Learn from old case studies- the engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost, or regulatory compliance issues.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Develop good understanding and building skills as per the Reliability engineer’s competency.
  • Help and coordinate with the Senior Reliability engineers, various activities for analyzing gaps and improving reliability of the assets.
  • Working with dedicated assets to understand the requirements and helping them identify gaps with the guidance from senior reliability engineers.
  • Steep learning curve to develop skills for various reliability tools is high desirable.
  • Complete reliability certifications like CMRP/CRE as agreed with the line manager.
  • Constantly engage with site maintenance leads, original equipment manufacturers, vendors and conduct reliability studies in consultation with site maintenance personnel/senior reliability engineers.
  • Interact and communicate with the site focal for reliability studies and maintenance strategies, understanding the intricacies about how the actual maintenance activities for heavy duty rotating equipment and other machinery have been planned and performed in various Units of Shell.
  • Understanding the functions of the various equipment and instruments and thorough knowledge of reading/ interpreting the engineering drawings (P&IDs, PEFS, PFDs).
  • Managing stakeholders/ representatives of various operating units through effective communication and identifying & resolving the bottlenecks for data analysis, maintaining issue logs and use the same in implementing changes/improvements in the processes.
  • Network with counterparts and other levels of organization across the different operating units, data centers and develop external networks outside of FOD and Shell.
  • Inspire and develop the team members.
  • Coordinate, monitor and improve the quality and timeliness of the delivery of RAM Modeling projects and other reliability improvement tasks as a hands-on foreman.
  • Ensure the team has a good understanding of the expectations of the stakeholders/ representatives of various operating units and is actively managing those through effective communication and identifying & resolving challenges and issues.
  • Interact and communicate with the site focal/maintenance leads for reliability related issues / initiatives / development needs and maintenance strategies, understanding the intricacies.
  • Make timely decisions under ambiguity.

Financial Dimensions

  • In partnership with Process Managers and stakeholders, can demonstrate the advantages of RAM Modeling at various Life Cycle Stages for the equipment within their appointed sites, plants and locations or OUs.

Business Dimensions

  • Perform reliability engineer role and other technical functions, with scope covering technical data and documents of the operating units, manufacturing sites, chemical plants, supply chain and distribution locations.
  • This role is expected to help Site Reliability engineers in measuring the current Reliability/Availability of Current Asset, Reliability of upcoming/under construction projects and identifying the Bad Actors in current/future installations of various equipment uniformly in various operating units across the globe.
