SC Analyst - Materials Data Operations

The SC Analyst – Materials Data Operations is responsible and accountable for the end-to-end (E2E) operational material master data creation in SAP, and data quality maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives implementation for SC and the Downstream, Renewables, and Functions class of business.
This position will interface with multiple stakeholders across Supply Chain (SC) Operations/SC-in-Businesses, and across the E2E natural partners outside SC (e.g., IT, Technical Asset Operations, Downstream Manufacturing, Mobility, Trading & Supply, etc.)
Likewise, he/she must ensure the Data operating model delivers business value in the new macro context. This requires interfacing with various Data stakeholders within and outside SC to develop and operate accurate and reliable SC data that enables businesses to improve their financial performance, safeguard license to operate, and achieve SC goals (e.g., availability, reliability, cost, etc.). Data must be reliable, trusted, and enable digitalization to allow Shell to maximize bottom line impact from operational spend and liberate time for asset-based business and SC colleagues.
Principal Accountabilities:
• Create material master records (MMR) for various material and equipment types in GSAP, CHEMSAP, BluePrint, and other SAP-based systems
• Contact suppliers/vendors and partner with asset engineers, Technical Asset Operations (TAO), inventory analysts, SC Operations Leads, and other business functions to obtain the mandatory information based on the Shell Internal Schema to create MMRs and to ensure business requirements are correctly prioritized and are met on time
• Implement data quality- related projects and improvement initiatives to deliver value that impacts the business bottom line
• Drive early involvement in MMR development. Where feasible, this is preferably done through annual plans agreed on with Technical Authorities, Category Managers, and other stakeholders
• Ensure Data Quality (Right First time, Data is Trusted) is in place
• Ensure operationalization of data designs that can eliminate waste, transform towards right-first time and strong data quality (DQ)
• Ensure disciplined daily execution of operational data processes across E2E SC to enable improvement and optimization, thus contributing to Shell targets for improved cost and delivery.
• Ensure that controls are consistently maintained, and risks are mitigated
• Identify areas for improvement, including root cause analysis, exceptions identification, and ideas for improvement and play active participation in improvement projects
• Demonstrate process expertise and business acumen with ability to play the role as the and SC Data expert for various business units
Dimensions:
• This role will support US/Canada, East, and NW Europe assets
• This role will cover Chems and Products, Mobility, Lubes, and Functions/IT lines of business (LOB)
Special Challenges (Complexity):
This role requires the following:
• Capacity and curiosity to understand business requirements, how the businesses work, what data means to supply chains, and actionable outcomes to enable step change towards “Data as an Asset” for whole of SC
• Ability to think strategically and translate strategies into tactics/deliverables
• Capacity to analyze data to gain insights and identify value delivery opportunities (with impact to business bottom line and Shell-wide targets) beyond daily, routinary deliverables
• Ability to engage and manage diverse stakeholders across SC and other functions such as IT, TAO, etc.
• Working in different shifts to cater to the different time zones of various stakeholders
What do we need from you?
• Technical engineering/maintenance execution background and experience are preferred
• Knowledge/familiarity with Material Master Data and MMRs
• Awareness/background in process automation and digitalization is a plus
• Strong data knowledge, curiosity, and capacity to understand data/data processes within the SC and business contexts
• A self-starter, with the ability to identify innovation/improvement opportunities and to implement projects
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Ability to interact with and influence others to deliver business results
• Ability to prioritize and ensure delivery of priorities, work without close supervision, and work through others to deliver results
• Ability to deal effectively with complexity and detail, and to collaborate and work well in a team

• Experience across Data and familiarity with SC (materials management, warehousing, inventory, etc.) is not required but a plus
