The San Diego Data & Analytics practice is a full-service data practice with competencies across information strategy, modern data architecture, data visualization, and data science. We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to design and develop data platform solutions. They will use leading data engineering practices to architect, design, and develop data/analytic platforms (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes) that are used to produce analytic products, including reports, dashboards, ML models, among others. We are hiring at the Senior Consultant level.
This is a hybrid position that will require in-person collaboration at the Slalom San Diego office and at client sites. The role requires you to be within a commutable distance of the Slalom San Diego office.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with clients to solve complex business problems; identify and develop cloud data and analytics solutions.
- Develop cloud data platforms and business intelligence solutions, including both data pipelines and data warehouses/databases.
- Document developed data solutions, future-state recommendations, including data architecture concepts to team members and clients.
- Ingest, wrangle, and surface heterogeneous data sources for exploring and discovering new insights for key client business problems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional agile teams on modern data architecture projects.
- Develop data solutions with a best-tool-for-the-situation approach, learning new tools and technologies on the fly as needed.
- 5 to 10 years' experience in professional services working on team-based consulting projects for external clients.
- 5 to 10 years hands-on experience developing data solutions in one or more cloud technologies (AWS is required; GCP, Azure, Snowflake experience is a plus), with two or more programming languages (Python, SQL, Java, C#, Scala, R, etc.)
- Demonstrated commercial experience in data modeling, design, and development for relational databases with complex SQL (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Azure SQL DB, etc.), including documenting data models and data lineage.
- Demonstrated experience using data processing tools, such as Airflow, Spark, dbt, Fivetran, Databricks, Talend.
- Demonstrated experience in cloud engineering, including serverless architecture, and/or data streaming services (AWS Lambda, Kafka, etc.)

Compensation And Benefits

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position the base salary pay range is $120,000 to $186,000 for Senior Consultant. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
