Job Overview
We are looking for a hands-on, experienced Data Visualization and Experience Design individual to work with us elevate the role of data in storytelling, communication, and business execution. As a key partner in a small creative corporate studio team, you’ll be responsible for setting the long-term vision for data visualization and storytelling at Slalom. You’ll collaborate with senior executives and teams throughout global services and customer teams to support or lead mission-critical programs.

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this position, the targeted base salary pay range is $120,000to $160,000. In addition, individuals may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual’s skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.

What You’ll Do
- Own and maintain the vision for data visualization strategy at Slalom.
- Establish and the company’s first data design language system to inform and inspire internal and client usage of data.
- Lead the company’s efforts in advanced data dashboard solutions in partnerships with executives and data leaders across the company.
- Work with strategic account teams to innovate with data visualization in appropriate elevated customer experience opportunities.
- Work with the larger data visualization and XD communities across the company to contribute to community development and investment programs.
- Mentor and manage a combination of direct and cross-team designers.
- Participate in conferences, speaking engagements, and publications to showcase industry expertise, strengthening both Slalom’s reputation and your personal professional brand.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Visualization, Graphic Design, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data visualization, UX/UI design, or a related role.
- Experience working collaboratively in cross-discipline environments of design and data
- Proficiency in user-centered design principles and accessibility standards within data-heavy contexts
- Familiarity with data governance and ethics.
- Experience with design tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Figma
- Familiarity with visualization tools like Tableau and Power BI
- Front-end experience with visualization libraries like Javascript a plus
- Exceptional storytelling ability to translate data into impactful narratives.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment, such as consulting, tech, or startups.
- Knowledge of user-centered design principles and accessibility standards. Familiarity with data governance and ethics.
