Job Description:

Springfield Technical Community College Division of Workforce Development is seeking passionate and knowledgeable in person adjunct instructors to contribute to the delivery of diverse Information Technology computing related courses. We are in search of innovative candidates who are ready to instruct cutting-edge computing concepts in a Boot Camp model to adult students preparing for their CompTIA certification exams using the TestOUT training learning management system. This program is designed to develop students skills so they can successfully obtain employment after completing the progressing training program in cybersecurity. Students will receive in person instruction with a limited distance learning environment. Students will progress through the program in pursuit of the following certifications:

  • IT+ Fundamentals - designed to support students and career changers with no prior experience in information technology. This training will provide foundational tech skills.
  • A+ - validates and expands the entry-level skills required in today's essential IT domains, including computer repair, software and operating systems, network administration, information security, cloud computing, and troubleshooting of both desktops and mobile devices.
  • Network+ - students will demonstrate competencies as an entry-level network professional. This training develops IT professionals' expertise in managing, maintaining, troubleshooting, installing, and configuring computer networks.
  • Security+ - students will demonstrate foundational knowledge in cybersecurity. The curriculum will validate an IT security professional's skills in threat mitigation and response, security architecture, compliance and risk management, and security operations for preparation into the exciting Cyber Security work environment

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver high energy CompTIA certification course using CompTIA slides and online tools, incorporating real world scenarios.
  • Provide instruction with clear objectives and agenda in line with the needs of adult learners.
  • Ensure students are working toward course objectives and completing their online learning lessons and labs.
  • Instruct students how to use their CompTIA online learning products through TestOut Labsim Training tools and other multimedia presentation formats.
  • Provide engaging activities so learners are actively participating.
  • Adjust instructional practices in line with feedback provided by students and supervisor.
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records.
  • Access, respect, and maintain the confidentiality of student information.
  • Ensure students are registered to take their certification exam before the course concludes.
  • Encourage and motivate students to complete their coursework, attend office hours for extra help, and provide 1:1 guidance, if necessary.
  • Adhere to STCC, CompTIA's and TestOut Instructor Standards and Guidelines.


Requirements:

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, and with current and prospective students and staff of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences.
  • Current CompTIA certification (or equivalent TestOut certification) for the course you are teaching.
  • 3 years of experience teaching in the specific topic or related experience.
  • Familiarity with a variety of the CompTIA concepts, practices, and procedures.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English.
  • Ability to work with second language learners and translate technical terms/processes into lay terms.
  • Experience working with instructional technology tools and web based Learning Management Systems.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of technical teaching experience in English
  • Ability to provide bilingual instruction in Spanish and English

INFORMATION AWARENESS SECURITY TRAINING:

Candidates for employment should be aware that all STCC employees are required to complete Information Awareness Security Training within thirty days of their orientation date and annually thereafter.
