Job Description: IMPORTANT NOTE: Adjunct Instructor positions are part-time, semester-to-semester, non-benefited MCCC/MTA/DCE unit positions. This posting is for a candidate pool for anticipated vacancies for the 2024-2025 school year. Under the supervision of the Dean of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, this faculty member is responsible for planning, delivering, and supervision of instruction to a diverse population of students, supporting student success and assessment of student progress in alignment with the Student Success Plan initiatives at the College. The successful candidate will have documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility and will work together with all faculty and staff to create an atmosphere of trust and respect in which all can succeed. Examples of Duties: - Teach one or more courses in developmental math, statistics, pre-calculus, and calculus. Both day and evening sections may be available.
- Actively participates with classroom discussions; sharing experiences and perspectives.
- Adjuncts will conduct classes, prepare for instruction, assess student performance, provide student assistance by appointment, collaborate with other division faculty and adjuncts to provide consistent learning objectives, engage in professional development and required training, and attend a limited number of faculty meetings. It may be necessary to teach courses across different modalities like online, hybrid, and face to face. Adjuncts are also required to meet all College policies and administrative deadlines.
Requirements: - Master's degree within the field or Master's with 18 credits of graduate level work specific to the field.
- College teaching experience, high school teaching experience, or adult education experience;
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - Successful community college teaching experience.
- Commitment to fostering inclusiveness, equity and diversity within the academic setting.
- Teaching experience with Early College students or at the High School level.
- Commitment to the mission of the community college.
- Experience building and facilitating asynchronous or hybrid courses using a standard learning management system.
